twice在句中作状语,once in the Athens Olympics and again in the Beijing Olympics.是twice同位语,是解释twice的.
once in the Athens Olympics 和 again in the Beijing Olympics词性一样,用并列连词and连接起来.
副词可以和介词短语一起使用,如：go out of the room意思“是走出房间”.
out 是副词,of the room是介词短语当副词用修饰 out的,是说“从哪出来”.
once in a while 这个短语中,once是副词“一次”的意思； in a while 是“在一段时间内”的意思,介词短语当副词用修饰副词once的.
说明一下：副词可以修饰动词、形容词、副词,还可修饰整个句子的.
并列连词连接的是相同的成分,不是相同的成分不能用并列连词.
介词后不能跟副词如go home不能写成go to home，但并没有说副词后不能跟介词
