很显然这一句主句和从句之间应该表示的是一种因果关系,从句讲的是原因.
不过我们都知道since和as都可以用来表示原因,而且都可以用在句首.他们的差异何在?
首先我们看看张振邦先生主编的《新编英语语法》（上海译文出版社出版）原话是怎么说的(一字未改）：

作为原因状语从句的连词，as和since差别不大，带有这类状语分句的复杂句，均侧重主句的内容即原因状语从句所引起的结果，其原因只是附带说明。例如：
As/Since he was not at home, I spoke to his brother.
着重点在I spoke to his brother,这是因为由as/since引导的状语分局，其原因或理由在说话人开来已经很明显，或已为听话人所熟悉，不需加以强调.......由as表示的原因语势最弱......

AS and SINCE are used when the reason is already well known, or is less important(注：和because相比而言）than the rest of the sentence. SINCE is a little formal than as. AS- and SINCE-clause often begin the sentence:
